Televisión Española (TVE) Deploys Next-generation SeaChange Play-to-Air System

TVE Upgrades Existing SeaChange Platform with New Universal MediaLibrary

October 19, 2010 -

NEW YORK  – SeaChange International, the global leader in multi-screen video, announced today that Televisión Española (TVE), one of the leading audiovisual groups in EMEA, has upgraded its existing SeaChange play-to-air system with the new Universal MediaLibrary (UML) IP media network storage hub.  TVE is deploying the UML to meet its growing playout requirements.

As the first step in the two-phase project, TVE is migrating its existing SeaChange Broadcast MediaCluster (BMC) to the UML, which is optimized for tapeless infrastructures and provides 72 TB of raw storage.  The UML’s seamless integration with Harris’s GMT automation system at TVE is supporting the export of all video clips from the BMC to UML. Data migration is synchronized via SeaChange MediaGateway (SMG) Pro software.

The UML system provides a 10GigE backbone network to support seamlessly file base ingest from different sources and as well as realtime baseband video ingest with SeaChange MediaClient.  The SMG Pro software automatically checks the compliance of the incoming file formats for play-to-air and Harris automation then selectively uses them for on-air playout using the latest MCL6100 series..  The MCL 6100 is the successful codec platform, supporting SD/HD ingest & playout with simultaneous HD and SD outputs helping the transition for TVE from BMC to tapeless Broadcast IT workflows.

“SeaChange is aiming to open up opportunities for broadcasters to exceed the demanding expectations of viewers today,” said Stephane Jauroyou, Vice President of Broadcast Sales, SeaChange International.  “Our next-generation play-to-air system makes this possible by enabling high-density, high-volume workflows.  Its open environment integrates with third-party non-linear editing systems and media asset management systems, so broadcast companies have the capability to bring powerful systems together and achieve operational excellence.”
