Russian Broadcaster Reaches Massive Audience with SeaChange Digital Video Systems

TV Centre Delivers Becomes Latest Russian TV Broadcaster to Deploy SeaChange Broadcast Platform; Delivers Programming to Nearly 80 Million Viewers
March 31, 2009 -
ACTON, Mass. - SeaChange International (NASDAQ: SEAC), a leading global supplier of HD and SD broadcast playout and workflow solutions, announced today that TV Centre has deployed a new playout platform based upon SeaChange digital video systems.  The Moscow-based broadcaster is airing a mix of news, sports and entertainment programming to an audience of more than 96 million viewers throughout 79 regions of Russia plus to the worldwide network of TV Centre International (TVCI).

TV Centre joins other Russian broadcasters who are on air using SeaChange’s Broadcast MediaLibrary/MediaClient (BML/MCL) digital video platform such as Expert TV, Kultura TV and St. Petersburg TV.  The BML/MCL comprises distinct capabilities that have made it the foundation for over 200 broadcasters worldwide: BML servers, which cost-efficiently provide fault-resilient storage of any type of media file; and highly flexible SeaChange MCL codecs that easily fit with any device in a broadcast operations workflow and support any video output, from standard definition and HD play-to-air to broadband streams.  Designed to support a wide range of automation and asset management systems, the SeaChange platform at TV Centre is working in conjunction within a newly created file-based workflow.

"With such a global audience of viewers counting on TV Centre for a wide range of TV programming, we selected the SeaChange platform because we have seen that it can provide the highest level of reliability and performance we require," said Alexander Zolotnitski, Deputy General Director, TV Centre.  "Our SeaChange system is not only helping us to meet our current needs; it will also grow along with our operation as we expand our services."

SeaChange’s longtime regional partner in Russia, I.S.P.A., provides local support to TV Centre.

SeaChange’s range of proven content storage, streaming and management solutions, including the FML200 flash memory-based ingest and play-to-air server, and its latest Broadcast MediaLibrary/Broadcast MediaClient play-to-air storage system and SD/HD software codecs, will be on display during NAB2009, April 20-23 in Las Vegas in SeaChange’s booth SU12009.  Demonstrations will underscore why broadcasters of all sizes in all parts of the world continue to make the BML/MCL their digital video foundation.
