"Superbugs" is topic of UMA's April 10th Annual Bio Lecture

On Thursday, April 10th from 11:00 AM to noon in Room 138 of the Student Center, Dr. Stephen Sears will present UMA's Annual Biology Lecture on Superbugs: The Problem of Drug Resistant Bacteria.

An infectious disease specialist with a strong background in public health, Dr. Sears formerly served as Chief Medical Officer at MaineGeneral. In that capacity, he had administrative responsibility for community health improvement and worked on many public health projects throughout Kennebec County.

A resident of Farmingdale, Dr. Sears currently serves as the Chief Vice President of Medical Administration at Portland's Mercy Hospital. He is on the National Board of the American Diabetes Association, the Board of Maine Center for Public Health, and the Board of the American Lung Association. He has also been associated with the Southern Kennebec Healthy Communities in an advisory role since its formation.

The Annual Biology Lecture is presented by UMA's Biology Program, which offers a four-year Bachelor of Arts Degree. Admission to the Annual Biology Lecture is free and open to the public. For more information contact Susan Baker at 621-3285 or sbak@maine.edu.
