Arqiva: Developing a metadata system utilizing Adrenalin
SeaChange products and services will enable Freeview viewers to navigate seamlessly between live TV and on-demand content.
Arqiva, one of the U.K.’s leading communications infrastructure and media services companies, is using SeaChange software and professional services to create the metadata foundation for Freeview Play, the new subscription-free connected TV offer from the U.K.’s most-watched television service. Freeview is managed by DTV Services Ltd, a company owned and run by its five shareholders: BBC, Sky, Channel 4, ITV and Arqiva.
Arqiva needed a flexibly way to aggregate, manage and deliver metadata from multiple sources for the Freeview electronic program guide for connected TVs and set-top boxes.
The SeaChange Adrenalin multiscreen video platform will enable Freeview viewers to navigate seamlessly between live TV and on-demand content, including programs offered through BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5. “The metadata system Arqiva is developing, utilizing SeaChange Adrenalin, will form the backbone of the new Freeview platform and sustain its value for years to come,” said Tom Cape, Director of Connected Solutions at Arqiva.
Arqiva will also leverage SeaChange Professional Services for customer integration, deployment and post-launch service monitoring and management.
